What is the best time of year to come to Mauritius?
Mauritius is a pleasant destination all year round. There are two seasons: summer from November to April and winter from May to October. In summer, temperatures vary between 25 and 32 degrees. In winter, temperatures range between 18 and 28 degrees.
What is the local currency?
The local currency is the Mauritian Rupee (Rs). It is divided into cents ("sous").
How many people live in the country?
There are about 1.3 million citizens, of Indian, African, Chinese and European origin living in Mauritius.
What languages are spoken by the local population?
Mauritian Creole is the most commonly spoken language. The majority of the population also speaks French and English. Hindus speak Bhojpuri (Creole version of Hindi).
Is the political situation stable in the territory?
The country has a stable political and economic situation. It is a parliamentary democracy.
What is the time difference between Mauritius and the United Kingdom?
The time difference is 4 hours during Mauritian winter and 3 hours in summer.
What is the minimum age to proceed to the check-in?
The minimum age requirement is 18 years old.
What is your cancellation policy?
Veranda Resorts cancellation policy is as follows:
• If a cancellation is made less than 14 days prior to the arrival date, 2 nights’ cancellation fees are charged.
• If a cancellation is made less than 7 days prior to the arrival date, 3 nights’ cancellation fees are charged.
• In case of a no show and/or a cancellation made less than 2 days prior to the trip, 100% cancellation fees are charged.
What is your deposit policy?
Veranda Resorts requires that 30% of accommodation fee be charged upon booking and
the remaining 70% at check-in at the hotel.
Is it necessary to show an identity card or passport at check-in?
Your ID is required for check-in procedures.
Can children stay for free?
Children under two years old can stay for free in parents' room.
Do you apply additional charges for early check -in?
To enjoy early check-in, guests must pay 50% of the room rate.
Who can I contact regarding my invoice?
You can contact the hotel reception for any questions regarding your payments.
What are the methods of payment accepted by Veranda Resorts?
You can pay by credit card, debit card or in cash.
HOTEL AND SERVICES
What time is check in / check out?
Check-in time is 2pm and check-out time is 12am.
Is it possible to smoke inside the hotel or on the premises?
It is not possible to smoke in the rooms and covered areas, but guests are free to smoke in designated outdoor smoking areas.
Is there Wi-Fi access in your resorts?
Complementary Wi-Fi access is available in all Veranda Resorts public areas.
What are the different packages offered?
• Veranda Paul & Virginie: Bed & Breakfast, Half Board, Full Board and All Inclusive
• Veranda Grand Baie: Bed & Breakfast, Half Board and All Inclusive
• Veranda Palmar Beach: All Inclusive Package

Can we find an infirmary at the hotel?
Hotels are equipped with a first aid kit and will call a doctor upon guests’ request.
Is there a babysitting service?
A chargeable babysitting is available upon guests’ request.
How to organise excursions?
You can book excursions directly via a variety of Tour Operators at the hotel reception.
Is there a currency exchange desk at the hotel?
Foreign currencies and travellers’ cheques can be exchanged at the reception desk at the bank rate with hotel commission added. All major credit cards are accepted (American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard & Visa).
Can I rent a car directly through the hotel?
Officially accredited taxis are at your disposal at the entrance of the hotel. Tariffs are available at the reception desk. For car rental, please contact Reception.
Is there a mail service?
You can leave your letters/postcards to be posted at the Blue Earth Boutique. Make sure the appropriate stamps are affixed on your letters/ postcards. Stamps are on sale at the Blue Earth boutique.
Is there a free shuttle to/from airport?
Veranda Resorts does not offer a free shuttle service but you can organise your travel needs with the hotel reception upon booking and on departure.
Is there a car park?
All Veranda Resorts hotels offer free parking.
Is room service available?
Veranda Resorts does not offer room service Do you provide beach towels?
Beach towels are available at the boathouse for use on the beach upon presentation of the beach towel cards. Kindly note that a deposit will be automatically charged to your room account on check-in. Upon return of the beach towels, this deposit will be refunded. Do you provide toiletries?
We provide a shower dispenser. Do you provide hair dryer, iron and anti-mosquito device?
Yes, we provide a hairdryer and anti-mosquito device. The iron and laundry service are available upon request. Do you provide baby cots in parents' room?
Yes, upon guests’ request. Is it necessary to bring an electric socket adapter?
Adapters are provided in rooms.

Is there a dress code?
Casual during the day and smart-casual for evenings. Trousers are required for gentlemen as from 6pm.
Are children allowed in all restaurants?

Tap water is considered drinkable but it is safer to drink bottled water.
Is it necessary to bring mosquito repellent?
Yes, it is advised to use a range of reliable repellents.
Are there any compulsory vaccinations needed?
A trip to Mauritius does not require any particular vaccinations.
